Dr. Leslie Anne Bishop, MBBS, MRCOG, FRCOG, is a founding member of Tapion Hospital and a key contributor to the development and growth of its Obstetrics and Gynaecology services. With over four decades in clinical medicine, including 35 years in O&G, she has played a pivotal role in establishing and advancing high-quality women’s health services at the hospital.
From its early years, Dr. Bishop was instrumental in shaping Tapion’s O&G practice, ensuring that comprehensive, patient-centered care was accessible to women in Saint Lucia and the wider region. Her clinical leadership and commitment to excellence helped build a strong, trusted service that became a cornerstone of the hospital’s offerings.
Trained at the University of the West Indies and the United Kingdom, where she earned her MRCOG , Dr. Bishop elevated standards of care and contributing to the hospital’s reputation for quality and professionalism. She later achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and a postgraduate Diploma in Public Health.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Bishop has contributed to the wider medical community through leadership roles, including serving as President of the Saint Lucia Medical and Dental Association, where she advocated for sexual and reproductive health. Dr. Bishop remains eternally grateful to those persons who made her participation in this amazing project a possibility.
