Dr. Emsco Remy, SLC,MBBS,DO (Ophthalmology) is a founding member and first Chairman of the Board of Tapion Hospital, part of the leadership and visionary group who were instrumental in bringing the institution to life in 1996. From inception, he played a pivotal role in mobilizing key stakeholders and securing the financial and technical partnerships necessary to establish the hospital, laying a strong foundation for its long-term success.
A distinguished ophthalmologist and the first Saint Lucian to specialize in the field, Dr. Remy has combined clinical excellence with strategic leadership throughout his career. As Chairman, he provided critical governance and direction during Tapion’s formative years, helping to shape its standards, structure, and commitment to high-quality healthcare.
Beyond his institutional leadership, Dr. Remy has made a profound impact through his longstanding service to communities across Saint Lucia, particularly in the South. His outreach and dedication have expanded access to eye care and improved the quality of life for countless individuals, reflecting a deep commitment to equitable healthcare and community well-being.
In addition to his contributions to Tapion, he is the Founder and CEO of the St. Lucia Eye Centre, a past President of the Saint Lucia Medical and Dental Association, and has served as Acting Governor General. In recognition of his national service, he was awarded the Saint Lucia Cross in 2018.
