Dr Clarke obtained her medical degree at the faculty of medical sciences Las Tunas, Cuba in 2007. She then completed post graduate training in 2013, becoming Saint Lucia’s first native Nephrologist.
Since returning home, her focus has been not only on practising clinical Nephrology but campaigning for healthier lifestyles and prevention of Chronic kidney disease, given the significant social, psychological, biological and financial toll that this disease takes on individuals, families and communities.
Dr Clarke Was honoured by the International Society of Nephrology with with the 2023 Nephrology Pioneer Award for North America and the Caribbean.
She is multilingual, a member of numerous internal societies including being a distinguished fellow of the American Society of Nephrology, Patron of St Lucia Renal Association, member of the Saint Lucia Diabetes and Hypertension association and the Saint Lucia cancer society. Current president of the St Lucia Medical and Dental Association and former host of the SLMDA produced medical programme HEALTHWISE, which aimed to educate and sensitize the general public on a wide range of medical issues. She is also an avid sports fan, principally cricket, football and tennis.
