Job Summary:
Tapion Hospital is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and skilled Midwife to join our dedicated maternity care team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, holistic care to women throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postnatal period in accordance with hospital policies, national standards, and best clinical practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive antenatal assessments, including maternal and fetal monitoring.
- Identify high-risk pregnancies and refer or escalate care appropriately.
- Provide continuous clinical and emotional support to women during labor and delivery.
- Monitor labor progress using appropriate tools and clinical guidelines.
- Perform normal vaginal deliveries within scope of practice.
- Recognize and respond promptly to obstetric emergencies such as postpartum hemorrhage and eclampsia.
- Assist obstetricians and other healthcare providers with procedures when required.
- Provide immediate newborn care, including assessment and resuscitation where necessary.
- Deliver postnatal care to both mother and baby, including breastfeeding support and health education.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to physician orders and hospital policy.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation of patient care.
- Educate patients and families on pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care, postpartum recovery, and family planning.
- Ensure infection prevention and control practices are consistently followed.
- Collaborate effectively with obstetricians, pediatricians, nurses, anesthetists, and other multidisciplinary team members.
- Uphold ethical standards, patient confidentiality, dignity, and informed consent at all times.

Qualifications & Experience:
Academic Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Midwifery from a recognized institution.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN/ADN) is required.
Licensure / Certification:
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) certification is considered an asset.

- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical midwifery experience, preferably in a hospital setting.

- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
