Job Summary:
Tapion Hospital is seeking a dependable, skilled, and versatile Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities team. This role is crucial in ensuring that the hospital’s infrastructure, equipment, and environment remain safe, functional, and comfortable for patients, staff, and visitors.
The successful candidate will perform a wide range of maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, and general facility upkeep. The Maintenance Technician will play an important role in maintaining the hospital’s operational efficiency and ensuring a safe and well-maintained environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance, repair, and installation tasks across plumbing, electrical, and painting systems.
- Inspect and maintain hospital equipment, fixtures, and building systems to ensure proper operation.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies while minimizing disruption to hospital operations.
- Assist with installation, replacement, or upgrades of equipment and building systems.
- Maintain maintenance logs, report major issues to the Maintenance Supervisor, and recommend improvements.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and infection control protocols.
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff and departments to support hospital operations efficiently.
Qualifications & Experience:
Academic Qualifications:
- Certificate, Diploma, or Trade Qualification in General Maintenance, Electrical, Plumbing, or a related technical field.
- Relevant technical certifications are considered an asset.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in general building and facilities maintenance.
- Practical knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, painting, and general repairs.
- Experience in a healthcare or commercial facility environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with maintenance tools, equipment, and safety procedures.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious.
- Flexible and able to respond to urgent maintenance needs.
Work Environment:
- Hands-on role in a busy hospital setting requiring physical activity and mobility.
- Occasional after-hours support may be required.
