In-Patients

You may choose accommodation in either private rooms with vanity and en-suite bathroom facilities or you may elect to share accommodation in spacious 5 bed units with shared bathroom facilities. Although booked in advance, access to private room cannot be guaranteed as this depends upon availability the day of admission.

All rooms and wards are equipped with cable television and wireless internet service at no extra cost. Telephones and air-conditioning units are present in all rooms.

Out-Patients / Day Surgery

Out-Patient Surgery, Oncology, Endoscopy and Chemotherapy

If you are undergoing day surgery, you will be admitted to our Day Unit which accommodates 4 persons. All jewelry (including body piercings) must be removed before coming to the Hospital. Acrylic nails and nail polish must also be removed.

Admission

Booked admissions are required to report to the Admissions Officer at least 2 days before admission. Maternity patients must report 4-6 weeks before their due date in order to complete the necessary forms, discuss payment and health insurance requirements and have any queries answered.

Fees

You must pay the appropriate fees before or on admission. Fees are based on an estimate of what your costs are likely to be, given your medical condition and/or the type of surgery you are having. After all financial arrangements are settled, you will be given an Admission form which you must present when you come to be admitted. Emergency fees must be paid prior to being administered to. We emphasize that the figures given are estimates only; a complete itemized bill will be prepared on your discharge.

• If your bill is less than your full payment, you will be refunded the difference.
• If your bill is greater than your payment, you will be required to settle the difference before leaving the hospital

Separate fees will be charged by the Anesthetist and your doctor; these fees will be included in your estimates.

Maternity Patients Mother

• Maternity Pads (3 packs)
• Nursing Bras 3 (at least)

Baby:

• Baby bath/baby soap
• Powder
• 2 Towels
• Petroleum Jelly
• Disposable nappies
• 2 Blankets
• Clothes
• Cotton wool balls
• Surgical alcohol
• BNT powder

Visiting Hours

Visiting Hours are: 7:00 am – 9:00 pm

All visitors are asked to report to reception and the Nurses’ desk before going to the patient’s room. Cellular phones must be turned off within the hospital. Please note: No children under 12 are allowed.

Our shuttle travels between the Dereck Walcott Square and the Hospital every half an hour from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Additional Persons

Additional persons are allowed in private rooms. Generally, out of concern for the patient’s well-being, we do not encourage relatives / partners in the general ward. However, in the case of a child, arrangements can be made. If you wish to make such an arrangement, please speak with the Nurse-in-Charge before admission to verify whether your request can be accommodated and the cost involved for meals and auxiliary services.

Amenities

Tapion Hospital offers the following services to make your stay as comfortable and convenient as possible for both you and your visitors.

Shuttle Service

Leaves Sir Derek Walcott square in Castries, the capital, just a 5 minute drive daily on the hour from 7.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.

Wireless Internet

This internet service is provided throughout the hospital including the admission rooms and wards.

Surroundings

Tapion Hospital is located on the picturesque Tapion Reef overlooking the Caribbean Sea with a view comparable to that of the Caribbean’s leading hotels.It’s the perfect place to relax and recuperate while enjoying the views of sailboats and cruise ships just outside your window.

Rooms

We offer wards, semi-private rooms and ensuite private rooms. All rooms have a wonderful view of the tropical surroundings. We also have two accommodation suites for family and relatives who would wish to stay close to their loved ones. All rooms boast air conditioned comfort with Cable TV and Wireless Internet.

Meals

Your room cost is inclusive of breakfast, lunch and supper. Individuals on special diets should advise the admitting nurse. Meals taken by relatives must be paid for separately and cannot be added to your bill.

Valuables and Safe Keep

As we do not offer safe keeping facilities, please do not bring your valuables such as cash and jewellery to the Hospital. Under no circumstances should you bring a firearm, licensed or unlicensed, to the Hospital. Any firearms discovered in the Hospital will immediately be turned over to the Police.

Discharge Procedure

Your doctor gives the first approval for your discharge: however, before you leave, clearance must be given by the Billing Officer, any balance due must be settled upon immediately.
